Plan 1–3 candles per cake, then add a 10–20% buffer and round up to the next pack size. The buffer covers waste and last-minute guests, and buying in bulk packs keeps the unit cost down.
candles by guest count
| Guests | At 1 per cake | At 3 per cake | With 20% buffer |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 10 | 30 | 36 |
| 20 | 20 | 60 | 72 |

How much extra should I buy?
Add 10–20%. A 10% buffer suits a small party, and 20% is safer for large groups, children’s parties or anything served outdoors where items get dropped or blown away.
Is it cheaper to buy in bulk?
Yes. Bulk packs of 50 or 100 cost 30–50% less per item than small packs, and leftovers keep for the next party. If you host more than once a year, buying in bulk is almost always cheaper.
